Correct If Needed
An important principle of blog ethics authored by Rebecca Blood in her “Weblog Handbook” pertains to correcting any misinformation. She stressed the importance of correcting inaccurate facts by making a note of it in your latest blogs. The correct information should be used as an additional note to the original writeup. If, for instance, you unintentionally linked to a story or article that was not true, it’s best to link to a report that is more accurate. You can also make a note of the misstatements and the real facts in your later post if you are not comfortable adding a correction in your earlier articles.
Your post should be written in such a way that could not be altered. You may add more information to it but never rewrite or delete your writeup although this is very possible on cyberspace. Review your entry several times before publishing it on the Internet. If, however, you later found out that something was wrong about the facts you wrote, then make a note of it on your blog. Deleting your post will not correct the misinformation.
