A blog is basically a mixture of events in a person’s life or a company, depending on whether it is a personal or a corporate blog. It may even be about what is happening in the web. This activity which is very similar to maintaining a diary has long been engaged in by people. Its power however, has been discovered primarily in the area of marketing. Blogs have been known to increase exposure and generate interest while being fun and easy to use. Many companies have come to realize the advantages of maintaining blogs as an integral part of their marketing campaign. Although it has provided the much needed boost in sales for several companies, not all will benefit in the same manner. It is important to determine whether maintaining a blog would be advantageous to a company. The next thing to determine is what kind of blog to have that will offer the maximum benefit.
A new dimension has been added to corporate communications through the use of blogs. It highlights the importance of engaging in conversation with the customers. A company that has a great idea needs an avenue from which to let it surface. Blogs have provided one such avenue as recent statistics would show that blogs are read by a considerable percentage of web users.
