Widgetification of Blogs
People have the tendency to cram everything they can into layouts. Little bits of useful information such as recent searches, google ads, shopping list or album recommendations serve their respective purposes but may sometime be too much for the eyes and brain to take in all at once while searching for valuable content. Some weblogs have reached the point where page loading has literally become a pain. Such experiences only succeed in discouraging return or follow-up business, not to mention the favorable recommendation from satisfied readers.
The potential audience for widgets includes the hundreds of thousands of blogs existing in the Internet. There are various widgets available that provide ways to share photos and videos, searching blogs and the web, offering jokes and games as well as hosting of other tools. Widgets have been made to make it easy for bloggers to add it to their blogs. The ease-of-use is a big part of most programs being offered. Once a widget is added to the blog, it behaves like the archive listing. The drag-and-drop content ordering tool can be used to put it where the user requires it. Most web-based services allows for the enhancement of blogs and the website visitor experience by creating and hosting a library of individual widgets that can easily be configured and added to the blog or site.
These mini applications have added fun and interactivity to most sites that it is so easy to over do it. Widgets are admittedly useful tools that can strongly compliment the main content of blogs. As in all things, too much of anything will not result to any good. Widgets should be chosen according to their appropriateness to the site to ensure maximum benefits for bloggers and readers.
